A Central Florida native, Ron began his drumming career at age 12.
As a member
of both marching and concert bands in Jr. High, Ron says
his inspiration for
becoming a musician was his older brother who played
the
sax and clarinet.
His influences include the legendary drummers Buddy Rich, Dennis Chambers
and Rush's, Neil Pert.
In his early twenties, Ron explored his creative side in the originals band, SYUS,
which experienced several years of local success. After that, he continued living
his passion for music by playing on the club circuit with
a
few other bands before
he founded the power trio Below Zero in 1993.
They toured all over Florida until
2000. Keeping his sticks in the mix,
Ron went on to play with various well known
Orlando bands such Iron Horse, Jackie Rose, and Loose Cannon. As Ron says,
"There aren't too many
places
in this town my drums haven't been, from the
gritty hole-in-the-wall bars
to the classy ones; they've rocked them all!"
As a highly skilled drummer, Ron has offered his expertise to several bands
in
need of a sub on a moment’s notice. With over 25 years of professional stage and studio
experience, Ron is diverse in many playing styles such as jazz, blues, funk, country, gospel,
and hard rock. In fact, the members of Neon Dream were so impressed with his drumming
when catching one of
his shows, that he was invited to join the band. One might describe
his style as funky, rocking and soulful, which works well for a party/dance band
like Neon Dream. When Ron isn’t on stage rocking out, he owns and manages
a recording
studio, Audible Sound Studio and is employed by Orange County Public Schools. |
